north bays. daytime highs will struggle to get to 40 or 50. this cold weather is expected to linger over the next few days and drop snow levels. >> now, that's snow. this is snow. now, it might not be the snow that you see over in the sierra nevada. but we get some good dustings. >> reporter: this morning, we could see snow showers at the 1500-foot level in the north bay and 2,000 feet in the diablo range and santa cruz mountains. also, something really rare this cold weather system could bring two to three inches in the mountains south of monterey. if you are not a cold weather person, don't worry, we're told that temperatures are expected to warm up by monday. but you don't have to take my word for it. for all things weather, let's send things to elizabeth in the weather center. >> thank you. if you think you're cold now, wait until tomorrow. as she just mentioned, we are already have freeze warnings and frost advisories posted for tomorrow morning at this time.
6:01 am
so let's check out our cbs 5 hi- def doppler. a lot of the bay area is dry. but as you can see, hugging the coastline and moving inland we have scattered very light showers. earlier it was in parts of saratoga, san jose, look like dry right now traveling any of those freeways. where we're seeing some rain and even some snow earlier we saw some snow showers that kind of was a mixture of pink and white. you can see a little bit right now over boulder creek and santa cruz county. so again be careful traveling highway 9 in the area. one to two inches is possible over the santa cruz mountains. so highway 17, highway 35. that winter weather advisory in those mountains set to expire at 1 p.m. this afternoon. now, behind all that front is cold temperatures. that's what cate was just talking about, chilly out there this morning, as well. oakland 44 right now. santa rosa hovering at freezing. and colder still by tomorrow. so this afternoon's highs struggling to get out of the upper 40s to very low 50s. the showers for the most part
6:02 am
should taper off though by this afternoon. so this is what it looks like on our satellite and radar. you can see that unsettled weather still moving in over the bay area bringing some possible snow to the highest elevations. otherwise scattered light showers and then quickly clearing out. it looks like we have a nice long dry break. that's pretty much what is forecasted for the next several days. so pinpoint forecast highs a lot of 50s. 50 in redwood city. 50 in mountain view and san jose. upper 40s in places like vallejo. and this is where you'll see that freeze warning, frost advisories, most of the bay area impacted tomorrow morning with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. so quick look at your seven-day forecast, once we get through today that high pressure begins to build friday through early next week. but you will notice no 60- degree readings so it's going to remain chilly. that is your forecast. for your traffic, here's gianna. >> okay, liz. get you updated on this trouble spot we have been monitoring in castro valley. a car fire was fully engulfed at one point has the right lane shut down. you can see live in our pictures from chopper 5 here that the flares are still set
